All of the items manufactured by BeaBea are cut and sewn individually for you. Our expertise allows you to personalise the fit of every single garment. You can choose to have something made form fitting or a little looser for comfort exactly as you choose.
When ordering please give us your body measurements – NOT the measurements you want the finished items to be. We will allow sufficient ease for the finished clothes to fit you.
These comments might help…
The tape measure should be snug but not tight.
Take your measurements over the underwear that you plan to wear with your finished outfit. This is less important for everyday clothes, but if you plan to wear a Push-Up style or a Basque under evening wear it’s best to take the measurements when you already have the underwear.
Do think about which shoes you are planning to wear. If you want to wear your finished outfit with high heels it will make a difference to the length you want the finished items to be.
In our experience it’s very hard to measure yourself. You will get a much better result if you can persuade someone to help.
Use a new tape measure, not an old, stretched one.
When measuring make sure the tape is level. If you’re trying to do this yourself try standing in front of a mirror to check it as you measure.
Breasts and tummies can change shape and size depending on what time of the month it is for you. If you suffer from tenderness or water retention you may get a slightly different measurement on different dates. If you suffer in this way do bear it in mind when letting us have your measurements.
We hope that helps but if you’d like further help do please drop us a line or give us a call. We’ve got years of experience in getting a good fit from all out clothes. The staff here at BeaBea ranges in sizes from an 8 to a 36 and from 5ft 1in to 5ft 11in tall so we really do understand!
Corset Advice and Fitting
Corsets are the most gloriously feminine of clothes. Nothing else can make you feel or look as good and every woman should have at least one! If well made a corset should be comfortable, do wonders for your figure and will last for years.
Corsets are traditionally fitted by waist measurement alone but as ours are more often worn to be seen rather than as underwear we make to measure to ensure the perfect fit. We will contact you before proceeding with your order to ask for measurements and to discuss your personal fitting preferences. We specialise in well fitting corsets for the most voluptuous figures and really understand the needs of big beautiful curves. Your order will be treated with understanding and discretion throughout and we have no upper or lower size limits.
All of our made to measure corsets include the making of a ‘Toile’ in the quoted price. This is a preliminary version of your finished style made from calico. We make it as the first stage of the process and it enables you to try the corset for fit and shape. If you are local to us you can come to the Studio for this but if not we will post it out to you and talk you through the fitting process. We can chat through any changes and, once the Toile is perfect we will start work on the final version.
We can make your corset in any number of fabrics so let us know what you have in mind and we can send you some fabric samples. The finished item will be completely unique and unlike mass produced corsets you are guaranteed that no-one in the world will have anything similar.
We can make your corset with any grade of boning and you can choose from the lightest weight synthetic boning to 11mm spiral steel boning depending on how restricting you want it. The corset will be finished with the best grade of busk or lacings and will, of course, be fully lined.
Depending on the degree of restriction you require your own waist can be up to 4 inches larger than the corset you order. If this is your first corset you should probably only aim at reducing your waist by around two inches. With time and practice the corset and your body will get to know each other better and you will be able to achieve more reduction.
If you have any queries regarding the correct fitting of a corset do please drop us a line, we're always happy to help |
